Love in Action - 4 Tips to Love the Unlovable

Wow, what a kickoff to 2025!
I pray your anticipation is high for God’s creative, imaginative, immeasurable works this year. We may not understand everything unfolding as the world changes, but I encourage you to focus on your yearly, quarterly, and monthly goals, implement step-by-step plans, and watch the desires of your heart come to fruition. Great expectations and great follow-through lead to great results.
Can you believe it’s already February? My prayer for you this month is that you focus on loving yourself more and more. To love yourself is healthy! After all, Jesus told us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Your contentment is contingent upon you making space to love yourself. I pray that out of the overflow of kindness and grace you give to yourself, you receive abundant, healing love from others.
It’s not always easy to love ourselves but it is doable. And just as loving ourselves is possible so is loving the challenging people in our lives. Perhaps you have a friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor and despite your best efforts, there is friction between you. In 2025, you decided to reach your goals and a pure heart, free from contention helps you achieve them. If you’re not sure how to make that peace happen, below are a few tips on loving difficult people and forgiving them and yourself:
Go for a walk and pray for the unlovable people in your life. Ask God to show them to you as a 7- or 8-year-old child.
Picture the difficult people showing up positively for you in life. How would that make you feel? What vacuum would their good presence fill in your heart and mind?
Now release these expectations to God and give people grace where gaps exist in reality.
Thank God for forgiving you when you’ve been unlovable or challenging and ask Him to see this person with compassion and empathy in your heart.
Goals can be derailed due to relationship difficulties, but I sincerely hope for different outcomes for you. Because February is a month of love, I hope you’ll study and find new ways to express love this month. You’ll find a few Bible verses below to get you started. And just in case no one has told you lately, I love you and God does too!
Enjoy your February!
