Start the New Year With a Growth Mindset

Does this sound like you? "My goal for 2024 is to accomplish the goals of 2023 that I should have done in 2022 because I made a promise in 2021, which I planned on keeping in 2020." It's time to break that unproductive cycle for good! In order to get unstuck and start living our purpose, we have to understand our own unique goals. No one else is responsible for helping us get the most out of our one and only life. Reviewing your mindset will be one of the keys to your success this year. When our mind is right, our activity will be right.

What is a Growth Mindset?

Mindset is the process of transforming our everyday thinking, rhythms, beliefs, habits, and actions. Goals are the foundation of a growth mindset and the vehicle to help us grow.

Here are several Growth Declarations to put into the top of your mind each day as you grow through your goals in 2024:

1. “I will start this journey and each day my steps of action are creating the ‘Big Mo.’”

The Big Mo is the priceless word, MOMENTUM. With momentum, you start the goals-setting process and soon life begins to work for you as you declare what you want and are called to do this year. The snowball effect of growth, coupled with energy, and leveraging resources paves the way for dreams to come to fruition.

2. “I can and will set the right goals that are authentically and uniquely me.”

The purpose of a Growth Mindset is not just to help you determine that you want a new Tesla or a trip to Greece (although there is nothing inherently wrong with either of those things). It is important to set the RIGHT goals that align with YOUR values and allow you to live the life you desire according to what is most important to you.

3. “I will become more productive while also being more peaceful.”

Just because you hustle does not mean you have to lose your daily sense of peace. Be sure to set a pace that aligns with the way you find peace. This equates to the flow of your best life.

4. “I will gain a new level of clarity and focus.”

Our world today is filled with distractions. There are so many things vying for our attention that we can become easily frustrated by competing priorities. Learn to live each day with the clarity of what’s most important for that moment. Be present and experience more peace.

Set aside some time at the beginning of this year to focus solely on you and the unlimited potential within. Schedule time during this year to adjust or recommit to your goals. Remember that there is no easy button to the best, truest riches in life. Commit to finishing, even if it takes you an entire year or more. You will need action, activity, and consistent practice to reach your goals.

Not all goals need to be big; smaller goals can be just as meaningful. It isn’t a perfectly filled-out planner or checking off items from your to-do list that bring the most fulfillment in life (although fun, especially for our high achieving friends).

Usually, people and relationships bring us the most long-term joy in life. Focus on your relationship with yourself, your relationship with God, and your relationship with others. Enjoy 2024 and make it your best year ever. And if you need guidance and a process for setting goals, I’m always here to help!
