The August Ask

As summer break winds down and our kids head back to school, everything in me feels the shift. Can you feel it too?
The long, adventurous days of summer begin to fade into memory, and we find ourselves easing back into the rhythms of real life—schedules, school drop-offs, sports practices, work goals. It’s a transition that always brings a little tug at my heart. I’m never quite ready to say goodbye to the slow mornings, sun-drenched adventures, and spontaneous laughter.
But I’ve learned this: every ending holds a new beginning.
And this fall? It’s full of possibility.
From Summer Fun to Fresh Focus
I’m so incredibly grateful for the rest, reconnection, and renewal this summer brought us. Maybe you traveled, or maybe your family slowed down at home. Maybe you reconnected with old friends or made some new ones. Either way, I pray that your soul got what it needed.
Because as August arrives, we’re stepping into more than just a school year.
We’re stepping into a new season of purpose.
And here’s the truth I’m holding onto:
We don’t have to shift from soul care to striving.
A Season to Ask
As we begin again—whether it’s back to school, back to work, or back to structure—let’s ease into it with faith.
Let’s not rush.
Let’s not overfill the calendar.
Let’s not move out of rhythm with the Spirit.
Instead, let’s Ask.
Let’s lift our eyes.
Let’s raise our expectancy.
Let’s begin this month by asking God for more:
More wisdom
More alignment
More peace
More clarity
More of Him
Even if we feel we already “have enough,” let’s not settle when God is offering His best.
Joshua & Caleb: A Reminder for Today
I often think of Joshua and Caleb—two leaders who, when everyone else saw giants, saw open doors.
They didn’t shrink back from transition—they pressed forward in faith.
They weren’t perfect, but they were positioned.
They were willing to stand on the edge of the unknown and say, “If God promised it, we can walk into it.”
They carried courage on their backs and legacy in their bones.
And they didn’t just cross over—they helped others do the same.
This is the kind of leadership God is calling us to today.
We are bridge builders for the next generation.
We carry wisdom and hope for the ones coming behind us.
We point toward the promise even when the path is uncertain.
The World is Waiting
Let’s not just send our kids into new classrooms—we send them as light-bearers.
Let’s not just walk back into work—we walk in with kingdom purpose.
Let’s not just fill up our planners—we fill up our spirits with prayer and praise.
This month is sacred.
August is a threshold.
The world is waiting.
So, as we begin this next chapter, here’s the question I’m sitting with:
👉 What do you need to ask God for this August?
Write it down.
Pray it through.
Say it out loud.
And then? Be brave enough to believe He wants to answer.
Let’s begin August with a heart that’s open, hands that are lifted, and feet ready to walk through the door.
Ask. Seek. Knock.
The promise is still true.
