Returning to Your First Love!

February! Here we Go!

Well now that we’ve got our first month of 2026 behind us, how are you doing? How are you feeling? Are you starting to come alive and set some goals? Are you getting new vision and ready to move beyond insanity (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!) I know I am!!

This month of February is one of my favorite months of the year. One reason is because I was engaged to my hubby on 2/13/98. How can we be married for so many years??? The other reason is that some of my favorite people celebrate February birthdays, including my daughter! And well, after 3 sons (whom I love dearly), I love adding a bit of the girls celebrations into this month. It breaks up the winter for me and gets me so excited to start thinking about spring.

Whatever February is to you, our theme this month is “returning to your first love” and I want you think about this passage found in Revelation. John records Jesus addressing the church at Ephesus. He said he was proud of their hard work and diligence and so grateful for their church, but that they had turned lukewarm. Meaning they were kind of just going through the motions of life and responsibilities. I want you think about this for a minute because if we are going to Multiply this year (that’s our BNU theme for the year), we want to be sure we are multiplying the right things. And I think remembering how much we love Jesus and being with Him is the first place to start with love.

The more your spirit is enriched, the more you’ll realize how much God loves you! It says in Jeremiah, “He knew you and formed you in the womb before you were ever born.”

Can you imagine how a gracious God prepared for you and loved you enough for you to enter this world?

You can be assured this love has given you great purpose! And God so lovingly sent his own son to take the weight of all of our mistakes upon him, so that when we receive his love, we can love freely!

This freedom in love will enliven your heart and passions. When you receive this love, you’ll rest in His provision for you and soar in creativity! You won’t have to be calculated, cautious or controlled in your love. When you return to your first love- Jesus- everything else will fade away and your ability to love will grow.

I want to encourage you this month to think about your first loves.

  • What did you love to do as a child?

  • What are some of the things that make you feel alive and whole?

Let’s put those into healthy habits that help us be the best versions of ourselves.

When we do this, we become aware all of all the ways we can help others who are still stuck in darkness and apathy. Oh apathy, what a difficult word and what an epidemic facing this generation!

When we return to our first love, apathy is abolished. We gain new energy. We get unstuck. We stop the cycle of insanity. And what happens next? We multiply!!!

  • Think about hosting a Galentine’s party, a couples dinner party, a craft making event, a Bible study!

  • Write someone a love note- hey you can even write one to yourself.

  • Pull out your best china and eat breakfast at a beautifully set table each morning.

  • Send flowers to a friend.

  • Help a person who is shut in.

  • Drive someone to get groceries or to Bible study or church.

See what I’m doing here? I’m helping you remember the joy you felt when you found your first love- Jesus… and hopefully giving you vision on how your love can be multiplied this month.

I really believe when we multiply love the world can change.

So what does this have to do with your business?

I encourage you to serve your clients a little better this month. Do something special for those you are stewarding. Send them a thank you Valentine and set the table for them too.

… and your Multiplied Love more than ever.

Can you get up and get activated to love? I sure believe you can! I love you and believe in you!
