Prepare the Ground: A Message for your Spirit

Updated: Jan 31

Our 2026 Theme Is Multiply, but before God multiplies fruit, He strengthens roots, refines hearts and prepares the soil. This January message is an invitation to fortify your spirit, quiet your soul, and trust God with what He’s already placed in your hands. As January comes to an end, you still have time to commit this year to Him.

“Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns.” Jeremiah 4:3

January has been a dream. For 19 days, I fasted food and prayed. There was no food preparation, no chewing, no concern for that part of my life. It was sacrificial and it was freedom. Every day was an encounter with our resurrected Savior. As I’ve taken time to commune with Him, my soul and body needs have decreased and my spirit has increased. I’ve seen Heaven and smelled the sweet aroma our worship and sacrifice is to our Lord.

As I’ve clothed myself in humility, I’ve seen all the ways I’ve strived, reached and tried for satisfaction in things other than the Lord. In the empty state of my soul, I’ve found full satisfaction in only Jesus.

When we look to His face and enter this realm with Him, we see the futility of our ways. We recognize why the enemy hates us and wants to keep us from this special communion with God. If he can distract us and disappoint us; if he can cause our eyes to behold useless things we think we need; we will be taken to fear, discouragement, delay and doubt.

But when we enter into His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, all of a sudden, a valve opens and our spirit permeates our flesh and our body. We become more like Jesus. We see what He sees. We care about what He cares about. We love what and who He loves (fyi - that’s everyone)! We endure for the sake of the Good News, knowing our suffering this side of Heaven is but for a little while, for soon the clouds will open, Jesus will return and we will meet Him there, in the air, to forever live with and honor Him.

As you move into this new year, tap into your spirit. Consider a spiritual fast. Absorb your Word. Reignite your spirit language. Pray that ever important prayer found in Psalms 51:11 & 12, “Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit!”

You will be so glad you set aside this time to consecrate 2026 to Him. You’re not behind. You are right on time for ALL the many joys and blessings He has for you this year!

If you need anything at all, our coaches are here to guide you to Him. He is all you need and more!

Our Brand New U Theme of the Year

This year our theme is Multiply and I want to be honest - I did not know how this theme would work when I didn’t feel like multiplying at all.

I received a word of encouragement spoken by a mentor and confirmed by my advisory board. In mid 2025, when all I could think of was my own retirement, she out of the blue came to me and said, “YOU CANNOT QUIT because Jill must multiply.” So I took this as a challenge to protect and a word of encouragement and direction for my spirit, but I did not know how it would play out - that is until this January.

On day 19 of  21 days of fasting and prayer, I was reminded of Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000 and the loaves and the fish miracle found in all four gospels in the New Testament. I was reminded that a little boy and his simple lunch (probably prepared by his precious mama), provided more than enough food for a multitude.

While John 6 is the only one to mention the boy specifically, you can read about the miracle in Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, and Luke 9:10-17.

I wonder when the disciples asked, “Does anyone have any food among us?” if the little boy shyly hid his basket at first?

I wonder if he thought, “Surely, they aren’t asking me for my lunch are they? It’s mine!”

I wonder if he thought, “They’ll never know I have this food. Maybe I can hide it a little deeper in my satchel?”

I wonder if he looked at those hungry friends around him who knew how good his mom made his lunches and may have taken his lunch before and thought, “Oh no, you’re not stealing my lunch again!”

Or

I wonder if he heard the voice of his Creator say simply, “Give what you have….”

We know he responded and we have record of his gift and what happened when he gave it.

“And Jesus took it, and prayed over it and multiplied it… into twelve baskets full, he gave it to the disciples and the disciples gave it to the people and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up twelve full baskets of the leftover broken pieces. There were about 5,000 men who ate, besides women and children .” Matthew 14:19- 21 (AMP)

There was more than enough for all (and certainly that was the best lunch day this boy had ever had)!” This story reminds us that no matter how small and insignificant it may be in your life, that's not what you need to worry about. Bring it to Jesus, trust him with it, and let him show you how his power is perfected in the weakness of your five barley loaves and your two fish.

And now I ask you,

“What’s in your hand?”

“What is it you must multiply this year?”

“What do you have that you can give or has already been given?”

I ask you to give again, come out of hiding again, trust again, step forward again, listen to the still small voice again…. because what little you have, when given to Jesus this year, will be multiplied.

Your talent, ideas, businesses, family, acts of service, art, hobbies, passions and pains…

Let’s place it in the hands of Jesus and watch HIM multiply it, build it, and provide for it. When you help, nourish, sustain and fill the needs of others for the sake of the Good News, He will take it, multiply it and send it to work for others’ benefit- and yours.

This year, reimagine what God can do -the sky is the limit!

Fortify and strengthen your spirit - man first and believe again.

Trust Him with that thing He has told you to do….grow your business, go back to school, share your testimony, pursue a targeted goal, launch that nonprofit, take care of that one, write that book, create that movie, partner with those people….the possibilities are endless!!

Enlarge your tent and take hold because He is doing a New Thing in you and for you. Build it little by little and brick by brick and hope again!

2026 is going to be good…..take heart, for He has overcome the world!

A Few Practical Suggestions:

• It is said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

What cycles must be broken this year that are keeping you stuck and insane? Even small, incremental changes over time make a huge difference. Don’t minimize even the slightest tweaks as you seek to make changes this year.

• You don’t have to wait for your next “big idea” - just “GO” forward this year with stewarding what is already in your hand. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Go with what you already know through life experience and wisdom.

• Please stop minimizing your talent, your story, your minutia. It’s often in the simplicity of the things you do that come so naturally to you, that need to be shared with others….your art, your cooking, your poetry, your organizational and administrative skills, your systems, your voice…keep sharing these things and helping others too.

Multiply Reflection:

As we begin this year, what is already in your hands that God is inviting you to surrender so He can multiply it?

By the end of January, most people have completely abandoned their goals-

Not because they're lazy, but because they set the wrong goals and vague goals

with no system to keep going.
